Occupational Therapy

What is it? Occupational therapy (OT) helps promote independence in daily activities or "occupations". For kids, their occupations consist of play, self-care, leisure, etc.

Some children may have physical, cognitive or developmental delays that inhibit their ability to carry out daily tasks as independently as possible. For babies, this could be as important as reaching, rolling or sitting. As children get older, their occupations evolve. They may have trouble with using utensils, getting dressed, riding a bike, completing school tasks etc.

As an occupational therapist, we look at the whole child, what it is they want to achieve and how can we help get them there - all while having FUN! We are also proficient in environmental modifications and adaptive equipment if necessary. We work with an array of abilities and diagnoses including but not limited to muscle weakness, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder and/or genetic conditions.

The demands placed on our children keep increasing drastically. Therefore, we hold our motto to high standards...

“Let kids be kids.”
